RJ’s Hair and Beauty

The Brief

RJ’s Hair & Beauty is a well-known hair salon in the heart of Brighton. The business was established in 1975 and has built up a regular client base. RJ’s clients are mainly women, aged between 20 and 50, who generally enjoyed a basic cut and blow dry.

Recently the business decided to expand their range of services to include extensions and specialist hair conditioning services. RJ’s have also opened up a nail and eyebrow service, which is proving to be popular with current clients.

The brief was to update the marketing of RJ’s to reflect its new range of services and to attract new customers into the shop. They were also looking to encourage their customers to try some of their new services and increase their current spend with RJ’s.

The Solution

HC Marketing conducted a thorough audit of the RJ’s brand, as well as their customers and competition to develop a Marketing Strategy. This consisted of interviews with current customers, and new potential clients outside the premises. We then analysed RJ’s current marketing activities, looking at the customer journeys on their website and social media platforms.

We decided to develop the RJ’s brand so it would better reflect the new range of services, so we changed the name from ‘RJ’s’ to ‘RJ’s Hair and Nail Salon’. We then designed a modern new shops façade that instantly created a 50% uplifted in the number of walk in customers.

Next we looked at the online offering and developed a new website, which enabled customers to book online for the first time. The new website provides an effective way to promote the full range of services and is supported by social media and email campaigns. All this has helped to attract lots of new clients and has helped RJ’s generated a 35% increase in revenue for 2016 over the previous year.
